Good news! CLC vote for a public consultation

At the CLC meeting, 4 September 2013, the councillors voted unanimously in favour of progressing to a full public consultation on 20 mph limits on residential roads in Worthing.

This is great news! We now need to work hard to make sure every household understands the benefits of 20 mph speed limits on residential streets, so they can make an informed decision.

If you can help with any of the following, please email: 20splentyforworthing@gmail.com:

1. Offer to deliver leaflets – there are still hundreds of roads in Worthing which haven’t had a leaflet
2.

20's Plenty, Sustrans and Transition Town Worthing send open letter to Worthing CLC demanding Montague Street decision is deferred

20’s Plenty for Worthing, Sustrans and Transition Town Worthing have written an open letter to the CLC demanding deferral of a decision on a recommendation which would mean funds for road safety schemes such as traffic calming and 20 mph limits for residential streets would be used to pay for the re-paving of Montague Street shopping precinct.

They believe use of these funds in such a way may be contrary to West Sussex County Council’s own policies.

Have your say on which roads should be included/excluded

West Sussex County Council will decide on which roads in Worthing are to be included in the proposal for 20mph limits.

It has not yet been decided, but please visit here to find out which roads may be excluded and then get in touch to tell us what you think.

Full public consultation to happen later this year (after the 2013 May elections)

This will be the chance for everyone in Worthing to have their say on whether they support 20’s Plenty for Worthing.

Please do sign our petition (if you haven’t already) and encourage your friends, family and neighbours to do and respond to the consultation later this year. We will let you know more about this when details are finalised nearer the time.
