The Proposal

Worthing County Councillors have voted to go to a full public consultation on a plan drawn up by West Sussex County Council (WSSC) entitled Option 2b:

Option 2b MapOption 2b Map

You can see the detailed map here.

Shaded areas are planned to be included in the 20 mph limit. Any road shown in colour, or not covered by the shaded areas is planned to be excluded (see full list below).

In general A-roads, B-roads and ‘local distributor roads’ are excluded, but most other roads are included. However WSCC has also chosen to exclude minor residential roads where current average traffic speeds are above 24 mph. In total 119 roads are excluded (see full list below).

The 20’s Plenty for Worthing campaign is aware that there are often good reasons why many of these roads SHOULD be included. For example some have schools on them, or are well used by children going to and from school, others are already areas where traffic speeds rarely exceed 20 mph anyway, others may be routes frequently used by cyclists and some run through shopping areas with many pedestrians trying to cross.

If you support 20 mph, but disagree with the excluded roads, please vote YES in the consultation but tell councillors which roads you think should be included.

Local residents know their own area better than anyone else.
PLEASE FEEDBACK YOUR VIEWS on the consultation form when you received it, and in the meantime to 20splentyforworthing@gmail.com and to Worthing County Local Committee Councillors
